CZERNYS TWO DAY SALE, FINE MILITARIA , ARMS & ARMOUR : JUNE 15th, 16th

Czerny’s Auction house in Italy are holding two sales on June 15th and 16th. The first sale, Militaria Arms & Uniforms includes many spectacular lots including a French An XII general’s sword C 1800, a gold mounted cane belonging to general Franco of Spain, (one of several Franco provenanced lots), a rare Saxon/Polish 17th C officers sword and many fine and rare uniform pieces as well as medals and decorations.  The second sale, Rare and Fine Antique Arms and Amour from Around the World, includes the important south German Maximilian armour C 1520 pictured. It is one of several armours in the catalog.

This sale also includes many fine early edged weapons, among them an exquisite Italian rapier C 1600, an imposing Saxon broadsword C 1580, an exceptional silver mounted gold inlaid Pala sword inset with stones, a Turkish Tranbzon style Kilij inset with coral and turquoise, a lovely example of a 17th C Japanese Yoshikado school Katana and a beautiful Lapis Lazuli hilted Kilij.
Among the many fine early firearms is a Cossack  pistols stocked in walrus ivory and inlaid with gold koftgari, and early Austrian wheellock gun with the Von Trapp family crest, a pair of finely chiseled and sculpted early 18th C Tuscan snaphaunce pistols, a fine percussion double rifle by Gastinne Renette, Paris and a beautiful gold inlaid flintlock  fowler by Manceaux, Paris. ROCK ISLAND PREMIERE 3 DAY SALE: May 19th-21st

Rock Islands Premiere auction of May 19th includes a stellar selection of museum quality guns, many with significant historical associations. Carrying the highest estimate is an engraved and silver-plated Beaumont-Adams revolver owned by President Jefferson Davis and surrendered to John Hines of the 4th Michigan cavalry on May 10th 1865. A second significant lot is the pictured Ulrich engraved and gold inlaid Winchester model 1895 owned by Zane Grey, one of many classic American western guns in the auction.

Star among the military lots is the WWII Class III Kreighoff FG42 paratrooper rifle with a 3-digit serial number.  A Mauser Stg44 will also cross the block. American WWI And II military arms include a rare Singer 1911A1 and a browning BAR 1918.  Several Thompsons will be offered, among them a  law enforcement shipped 1921AC Thompson and example 1921/28 example with navy overstamp.

The sale includes many superb sporting guns. Fine engraved guns by  Purdey, Rizzini, Watson Brothers, and Holland & Holland will be offered. In addition to collectible guns the catalog includes a rare Austro Hungarian Montigny Mitrailleuse 1851/65 37 shot volley gun and a pair of Dahlgren 12 pounder Bronze boat howitzers and 2256 lots in total over three days. ANTIKVITY PRAHA, ANTIQUE ARMS AND FINE ART: JUNE 3rd

Antikvity Praha’s sale of June 3rd includes a fine selection of early guns, among them many of US interest. Carrying an estimate 24,000 euro is an engraved iron framed Smith & Wesson No. 2 Volcanic pistol. A Volcanic No. 1 pocket pistol by New Haven arms is also offered. Also among the many American guns in the sale are a factory engraved Manhattan Navy revolver and a S&W new model No. 3 Russian.

European guns offered include a a long barrel flintlock pistol by Jan Ceule Utrech C 1660, a fine flintlock rifle by Hanl, Falkenau, a French 18th C naval swivel gun or grenade launcher by Carrier Du Molard (1735-83), a luxury cased pair of pocket pistols by Beringer Paris and a 17th C German or Austrian wheelock pistol. English guns include a cased 54 cal. Tranter apparently exported to Japan, an Adams revolver made under license by Pirlot in liege and a cased pair of double-barreled pistols by Roper Halifax.
Among the swords are a museum quality Ottoman sabre inscribed with the owner’s name, Al-Hajj Ibrahim. Also offered is a Russian presentation sabre in niello silver mounts hallmarked for 1897.  Also offer is an Austro-Hungarian sabre with rococo hilt, a Finley chiseled cup hilt rapier, The sale includes a range of other edged weapons, a silver mounted yataghan among them, as well as several hunting swords.

Other lots in the sale include a presentation silver mounted drinking horn, a combination hunting sword and flintlock pistol and a percussion pistol hidden in a secret clock case. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



PROBUS AUKTION, ARMS AND ARMOUR: APRIL 17th

Probus Auction, Stockholm, are holding a sale of arms, armour, militaria & decorations on April 17th.  Among the fine guns offered is the rare Colt revolving Carbine pictured.  Other rare longarms include a fine Turkish silver inlaid miquelet rifle, a Russian 18th C. flintlock musket converted to percussion by the Swedish Navy and a Swedish model 1815-20 carbine. Fine pistols include a fine cased percussion pair of dueling arms by Felice Ploner a Trieste, a third model Colt Dragoon, a cased Volcanic pistol, a Swedish jailers double barreled combination pistol dagger, a fine early 18th C Flemish pistol by Penterman Utrecht, and a Danish 1841 breech loading percussion pistol.
 
The sale includes a wide range of edged weapons. Among the swords offered are a fine Russian Award shaska, several early Swedish officers swords C 1640, a personalized French restoration period dragoon saber C 1815, a large Ottoman Kilij and a good Kindjal dated 1891. Helios Auctions are holding a spring sale of arms & armour on April 2nd .  The sale includes this fabulous pair of silver and coral decorated flintlock pistols, made for Eastern market. Other spectacular firearms in the sale include several fine German Wheelock hunting rifles, wheellock pistols, a German flintlock pistol with removeable stock, a tap-action four barreled flintlock pistol, a Turkish Miguel rifle and a Catalan miquelet pistol.

MILESTONE AUCTIONS: PREMIERE COLLECTIBLE FIREARMS: MARCH 11th

Milestone Auction house in Ohio is holding a two-day sale on March 11th and 12th.  The sale includes many fine cased pistols including this fabulous pair of Brevette Colt Navy revolvers. Others include a cased pair of Colt Navy 1851 squareguard revolvers, a cased pair of engraved and gold pated Adams revolvers, a cased pair of Delvigne percussion Mouse pistols an engraved New Haven Volcanic No2 pistol, a desirable Pre-war Polish Radom eagle pistol and several Mauser Broom handles with shoulder stocks.

ROCK ISLAND AUCTION: SPORTING & COLLECTOR FIREARMS, FEB 14th-17th

A pair of cased and engraved Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 single action revolvers shipped to Cuba are among the lots that will catch collectors’ attention in Rock Island’s sale running from Feb 14th to 17th. The lot include a factory letter indicating they were shipped on September 22nd, 1880, to Don Jose Valero of Cuba. Among other lots carrying higher estimates in the sale are several fine lever actions including Volcanic, Henry and early Winchester examples.
 
Also included in the sale are early military arms such as the rare Mauser G41, a scoped WWII K98 Sniper rifle, a Sharps 1863 percussion rifle, and a US model 97 Winchester trench gun. Fine sporting lots offered include a Parker Bros, VHE 28 gauge and a Gustav Genschow boxlock double rifle in 375 express. SCOLLARD AUCTIONS: MILITARIA & ANTIQUES, Feb 21st

Scollard Auctions are holding a sale of arms, armour and antiques on Feb 21st.  The sale includes the North Indian, probably Kutch, shamshir with flamboyant blade pictured in addition to a pulwar sword with similar blade, several lots of antique armour, edged weapons and a European war hammer in the 16th C style.  Included in the armour lots is an attractive etched reproduction 16th breastplate and tassets.  Among the edged weapons are a British 1803 flank officers sword, a European mameluke sabre and scabbard, and a US model 1862 naval cutlas with scabbard.

HERMANN HISTORICA, ARMS AMOUR, ANTIQUE GUNS, ORDERS AND MILITARY COLLECTIBLES: Jan 30th

Hermann Historica are holding a series of sales starting Jan 30th and the catalogs include Antiquities, Arms and Armour, Antique and Modern Arms. as well as Orders and Military Collectibles. Five catalogs will run though Feb 2nd. Among the fine arms to cross the block is the superb pair of pictures German pistols by Breidl, C1780. Other fine guns include a gold inliad pair by Prevoteau Le Juene, Paris C 1780, and a silver mounted double barreled flintlock pistol by W. Paris in Derby C 1795. Vintage and modern guns offered include a Mannlicher model 1905 and a Swiss sig Mod 210-4 BGS.

The highlights of the Antique arms and Armour catalog includes edged weapons such as the Ottoman silver mounted wootz damascus Shamshir dated 1619 and a 17th C  Styrian/Hungarian hussar saber with scabbard. A Saudi Wootz example is also offered.  A 16/17th C pikeman’s suit of Amour will be sold as will a Polish Zischagge C 1650.

CZERNYS ITALY, ARMS FROM THE MLAY ARCHIPELAGO AND FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR: Dec 16th-17th

Czerny’s Auction house in Italy is holding two sales on Dec 15th and 16th. The first sale, Fine Antique Arms from the Malay Archipelago includes many examples of highly decorative and rare Asian and SE Asian arms.  Silver mounted Kastane swords from Ceylon are among those with higher estimates in the sale, as are Sumatran and Balinese Kris’s. Among the many rare forms of edged weapons throughout the catalogue are Sumtran Piso-podangs, a Pade sword from the Maluku islands, a scarce Naga sword from Assam and a Balato from Nias. Klewangs, Daos, Dhas, and Mandau’s are among the other exotic forms offered.

The second catalogue of Fine Arms and Armour includes many fine early firearms such as the late 17th C. Teschen flintlock rifle pictured. Also in this sale is a fabulous pair of Brescian pistols by Galatto C1670, a fine French double flintlock fowler by Simon C 1770 and a presentation Target rifle by Rochat Turin, gifted by King Emaneul II in 1862. This catalogue also includes some fine Japanese lots such as the Tashi with Cloisonne decorated Koshirae, an attractive Kabuto helmet with Menpo and a rare Tano signed Kuni-Mitsu.
