Czerny’s sale of Sept 24-25^th has a good section of early armour, including a very rare closed helmet, estimated at €7,000–€10,000, a, Savoyard helmet, a morion, burgonet and ahalf-armour associated with Pisa’s historic Gioco del Ponte. A Tosei-Gosoku suit of samurai armour, estimated at €4,500–€6,500, broadens the international scope.

Among the edged weapons is a rare double-handed broadsword by Stantler, estimated at €5,000–€6,500, together with a scarce Landsknecht katzbalger at €4,500–€6,500. Of particular historical interest is a presentation sabre made for Colonel Daniel Dowling, aide-de-camp to Giuseppe Garibaldi, estimated at €4,500–€6,500. An elegant khanjar with a rock-crystal and jade grip adds an Eastern dimension.

The firearms section includes a finely cased double-barrelled percussion shotgun and an over-and-under flintlock shotgun by Marco Antonio Giurati.
