CZERNY'S 2 DAY FIENE ANTIQUE ARMS & ARMOUR SALE: SEPT 25th- 26th

Czerny’s will hold its upcoming two-day auction on September 25th and 26th, featuring a diverse selection of antique arms, armour, and militaria from Europe and the East.
The first day includes a range of early edged weapons and related objects. Notable items include an Ottoman karabela with silver mounts and a hardstone hilt, dating from the 18th or 19th century, as well as a 19th-century Russian gilded hunting hanger. Several 17th-century schiavonas from Venice are also offered, along with a shamshir with a gilt brass hilt decorated with cabochon glass stones, similar in style to examples in the Robert Hales Collection. Other pieces of interest include a jade-hilted kard set with rubies and the blade known as the “Stocco Benedetto,” presented by Pope Innocent X to John II Casimir Vasa. A flammenschwert from early 17th-century Germany is also included in the sale as is a good selection of European rapiers.
The second day features suits of armour and firearms. Among them is a South German Maximilian full armour with a matching rondache, along with several helmets and a notable cabasset. Firearms highlights include a pair of English flintlock pistols decorated for the Russian market, a cased pair of Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolvers engraved in the Gustave Young style, and a pair of late 17th-century French flintlock pistols by Picot. Also offered is a well-preserved Scottish targe as well as a wide rnage of militaria.
