WILLIAM HART, WESTERN SILENT FILM HERO'S COLT UP FOR AUCTION, AUG 28th

A revolver belonging to William S. Hart, a silent movie screen western hero is being auctioned by California Auctioneers on Aug 28^th. The Colt .38WCF DA 1907 revolver engraved with his name and with custom mother of pearl grips can be seen in many of his movies. It is accompanied by a tooled holster and ammo belt.

There are several other items in the sale from the Hart estate including a pocket watch and three rare film reels containing prints of Harts early films.

Pictured is an exquisite set of four flintlock pistols by Nicholas Boutet, the finest of French Napoleonic makers. This cased set is one of many outstanding lots in the sale. Carrying the highest estimate of $300,000-500,000 is the highly published Conrad F. Ulrich masterpiece Winchester Model 1866 deluxe lever action musket, one of the finest Winchester firearms ever produced.

Other superb lots include the Goering presentation engraved gold plated Walther PPK, A J. Russell & Co. knife handle crafted by New York luxury jewelry retailer, Dreicer & Co. presented to U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and a US inspected 1887 Colt Gatling gun.

Amsokeag Auction are holding an important sale on August 29th. The sale includes fine contemporary sporting arms as well as antique guns, edged weapons and militaria. Pictured is a superb engraved special order No 3 Smith & Wesson revolver owned by the famed target shooter F. E. Bennett that is a highlight of the sale.

Also included in the sale are desirable early sporting guns such as the Marlin Model 1889 Special Order Deluxe Lever Action Rifle the Alexander Henry Best Quality Falling Block Sporting Rifle and the Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Lever Action Rifle being offered.

Non Gun lots include a V-42 fighting knife grouping and a fine eagle head officers sword.

Gavin Gardiner’s annual Gleneagles sale is being held on August 29^th. The sale includes the finest sporting shotguns and rifles. Pictured are a pair of Purdey sidelock pigeon guns carrying and estimate of 8000-14000 sterling.

Among the other 213 lots in the sale are examples by Boss, Lang, Atkin, Evans, Piotto, Holland & Holland, Dickson, AYA, Alex Martin and Arrietta. Antique guns in the sale include a pair of German pinfire guns by Staehle made for a Hanoverian prince.
