CHRIS WYNN EARLY PURDEY COLLECTION: Bonhams, Nov 9th
Bonham’s November 9th sale of Purdey arms is a reminder that while the Purdey name is synonymous with the finest sporting shotguns, they also made a wide range of other fine arms during the course of the last two centuries.
Carrying the highest estimate (10,000-15,000 stg) is a cased pair of percussion dueling pistols made in 1826. Other pistols offered include a cased pair of rifled target pistols made in 1827 and a fine cased double barreled traveling pistol made in 1825. A wide range of single and double barreled percussion sporting rifles are included in the sale as well as rarer pinfire examples. Also among the rifles is a Chillingham Officers percussion rifled musket, an unusual Purdey military gun.
The sale also includes double and single barreled percussion sporting guns as well as pepperbox pistols and percussion revolvers. Click on the image for a link to the sale.
