CZERNYS: RARE AND FINE ARMS & ARMOUR 3-DAY SALE Sept 25th-27th
Czerny’s fall sale takes place over three days starting on September 25th. It includes two days of arms and armour and a third day focusing on medals, orders and decorations. The fine south German close helm with Augsburg style engraving circa 1540 pictured is one of several early armour lots in the first day. A spectacular embossed half-armour in the style of Caremolo Modrone and a German full tournament armour C 1600 will also cross the block.
Other offerings in this catalog include a fine Jade hilted Kard, a Prussian Garde Du corps helmet, a tachi signed Kuni Kartachi, several Japanese suits of armour as well as a rare tanegashimi matchlock pistol and rare Japanese flintlock tinder lighter. Rare swords in the sale include a fine Tatar sabre, an ottoman silver hilted shamshir and several Karabela’s.
The second day’s catalog has many fine antique firearms including an extraordinary wheellock tschinke, a puffer pistol form the guard of prince Christian I dated 1564, a Russian flintlock pistol made at Tula in 1787 for General Mikhail Kretchetnikov and an early 18th C Negroni mad snaphaunce sporting gun. SCOLLARD AUCTIONS, ANTIQUES, ARMS & ARMOUR: Sept 26th
Scollard auctions sale of the 36th includes a wide selection of arms and armour along with fine antiques. Many of the arms lots have Mexican, Central and South American associations including the Spanish military flintlock rifle with association to General Bassecout y Dupre pictured. Other Spanish American lots offered include a massive pair of Peruvian silver stirrups, a Spanish Military “Trabuco” rifle, swords including Spanish cup hilt rapiers and regulation 18th C. cavalry swords, A Catalan stocked escopeta, is also included in this category as is a scarce “Amercia Americano Mexico” C. 1900.
