ROCK ISLAND PREMIERE 3 DAY SALE: May 19th-21st

Rock Islands Premiere auction of May 19th includes a stellar selection of museum quality guns, many with significant historical associations. Carrying the highest estimate is an engraved and silver-plated Beaumont-Adams revolver owned by President Jefferson Davis and surrendered to John Hines of the 4th Michigan cavalry on May 10th 1865. A second significant lot is the pictured Ulrich engraved and gold inlaid Winchester model 1895 owned by Zane Grey, one of many classic American western guns in the auction.

Star among the military lots is the WWII Class III Kreighoff FG42 paratrooper rifle with a 3-digit serial number.  A Mauser Stg44 will also cross the block. American WWI And II military arms include a rare Singer 1911A1 and a browning BAR 1918.  Several Thompsons will be offered, among them a  law enforcement shipped 1921AC Thompson and example 1921/28 example with navy overstamp.

The sale includes many superb sporting guns. Fine engraved guns by  Purdey, Rizzini, Watson Brothers, and Holland & Holland will be offered. In addition to collectible guns the catalog includes a rare Austro Hungarian Montigny Mitrailleuse 1851/65 37 shot volley gun and a pair of Dahlgren 12 pounder Bronze boat howitzers and 2256 lots in total over three days. ANTIKVITY PRAHA, ANTIQUE ARMS AND FINE ART: JUNE 3rd

Antikvity Praha’s sale of June 3rd includes a fine selection of early guns, among them many of US interest. Carrying an estimate 24,000 euro is an engraved iron framed Smith & Wesson No. 2 Volcanic pistol. A Volcanic No. 1 pocket pistol by New Haven arms is also offered. Also among the many American guns in the sale are a factory engraved Manhattan Navy revolver and a S&W new model No. 3 Russian.

European guns offered include a a long barrel flintlock pistol by Jan Ceule Utrech C 1660, a fine flintlock rifle by Hanl, Falkenau, a French 18th C naval swivel gun or grenade launcher by Carrier Du Molard (1735-83), a luxury cased pair of pocket pistols by Beringer Paris and a 17th C German or Austrian wheelock pistol. English guns include a cased 54 cal. Tranter apparently exported to Japan, an Adams revolver made under license by Pirlot in liege and a cased pair of double-barreled pistols by Roper Halifax.
Among the swords are a museum quality Ottoman sabre inscribed with the owner’s name, Al-Hajj Ibrahim. Also offered is a Russian presentation sabre in niello silver mounts hallmarked for 1897.  Also offer is an Austro-Hungarian sabre with rococo hilt, a Finley chiseled cup hilt rapier, The sale includes a range of other edged weapons, a silver mounted yataghan among them, as well as several hunting swords.

Other lots in the sale include a presentation silver mounted drinking horn, a combination hunting sword and flintlock pistol and a percussion pistol hidden in a secret clock case. Click on the image for a link to the sale.
