LANDSHUTER RUSTKAMMER, ANTIQUE ARMS AND MILITARIA: SEPT 28th

Landshuter Rustkammer’s next sale includes some very attractive Austrian, Hungarian and Polish Hussar sabres. Earlier edged weapons in the sale include rapiers, broad swords and daggers from Germany, Holland and Ital. Among these is a desirable sword by Standler of Munich. Armor in the sale includes several Comb Morion helmets, chain mail vests and a fine etched north Italian cabasset circa 1580.
 
Modern Military arms offered include a G43 sniper rifle and the prewar commercial broom-handle Mauser and Decker pistols pictured below. Antique Military guns include a Nuremberg matchlock C1620 several French cavalry percussion pistols as well as scarce examples of cavalry carbines from the late 19th C.
 
Among the top lots is the highly decorated Thüringen Wheelock dated 1656. There are several other Wheelock pistols, teschinkes style sporting guns and civilian matchlocks in the sale.
Ottoman arms offered include a fine published 17th century helmet of turban form. The sale also includes uniforms, medals and orders. Click on the image for a link to the catalog.



CZERNY'S FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR: SEPT 14th

Czernys sale of September 14th includes a wide variety of the rarest and finest arms and amour from a wide range of period and cultural contexts. One of the more exotic lots in the fine Chinese mathclock gun pictured. It is mounted with an Indian gold decorated Mughal type barrel. Other rare lots include a fine half-armour in the Pisan manner circa 1580, several pairs of Wheelock pistols, a rare Russian hunting dagger by Egor Samsonov at Tula and a highly decorated silver niello Caucasian pistol.

The sale includes over 1000 lots and among the more moderately estimated lots are good hunting hangers, Japanese tsubas, a wide variety of collectors reference books, daggers, axes and a wide range of later military arms. Clock on the image for a link to the sale.



VICKERS AND HOAD, EDGED AND TRIBAL WEAPONS AUG 11th

Vickers and Hoad are holding a sale of edged and tribal weapons on the Aug 11th. The sale includes many Indo-Persian blades as well as Mughal, Ceylonese, Burmese, Indonesian, African and Polynesian weapons.
 
Top lost in the sale include an unusual silver mounted Cossack Kendal with snake decoration, a good Indian chillanum dagger, a Coorg knife and scabbard and a scarce sosun pattah Indian sword. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



CAROL WATSON's FINE ARMS SALE: JULY 29th

Carol Watson’s sale of fine arms on July 29th includes this fabulous Munich Schutzen rifle by Carl Steigele.  Other fine and rare rifles in the sale include A Nimschke style engraved Winchester model 1866, and a scarce RIA model 1903. Antique handguns in the sale include A British proofed Colt Model 1873 single action army, A Colt 2nd Model 1848 Dragoon and a Confederate Griswold and Gunnison revolver.

BOSLEY'S MILITARY ANTIQUES SALE: JULY 3rd

Bosely’s sale of military antiques on July3rd includes this very attractive light cavalry officer’s mameluke sword of the prince of Wales regiment by Tatham. Other fine and scarce swords in this sale of military antiques include, another ivory spadroon hilted example of a fighting also sword by Tatham, an 11th hussars Victorian mameluke sword, very rare examples of Waterloo period heavy cavalry swords, among them trooper s and an 1814 offers model as well as a royal horse guards sword by Prosser.

The sale includes a wide range of medals and militaria. One of the rarer and highly unusual lots is a Mahdist Jibbah tunic picked up at the battle of Omdurman from the estate of General Sir Francis Wingate.

A matched pair of Russian Dueling pistols is a great rarity and Czernys are offering a cased pair made in Tule by Alexey Babyakin on June 15th. Other rare lots included in the sale that span the glove and many varied historical epochs include an Ottoman 16th C. horse armor, A rare Philippine Moro helmet in the conquistador style, an English Presentation Dragoon saber by Knubley dated 1799, a highly decorated Tibetan broadsword and a 15th C. Venetian broadsword.

Among the top lots are a Luger DWM 1902 carbine is superb condition, a fine Cased colt model 1861 revolver, a fine pair of Mediterranean flintlock pistols with Brunswick rifling, Confederate Fayetteville and Richmond army muskets and a cased Adams 1851 revolver retailed by Rigby Dublin, pictured.
 
Among the sporting arms offered are a Winchester model 21 skeet gun cased with two sets of barrels, a magazine sporting rifle by Joseph Lang in 375 H&H, a double hammer rifle by Cogswell & Harrison and a custom Winchester model 42 Pigeon grade skeet gun in .410. Antikvity Praha’s next auction in Prague includes a variety of select arms, armor and militaria lots. The sale includes antique and collectible firearms, edged weapons from the 16th to the 19th centuries, and elements of early European armour.  Carrying the highest estimate of 20,000 euro is a fine 16th C. German parade shield, embossed and chiseled, a detail of which is pictured.  Other armour lots in the sale include a Maximilian from close helmet, an officer’s lobstertail helmet and a brass mounted Napoleon III cuirass.

Among the guns in the sale are an inlaid wheelleock dual ignition sporting gun, a pair of LePage dueling or target pistols,  a North and Savage percussion revolving rifle and a custom engraved Colt single action revolver. ROCK ISLAND'S PREMIERE SALE, MAY 3RD

Described as “virtual superstar ..amongst an elite category of antique firearms “ is the pictured Colt Dragoon revolver engraved by G Young. It carries the highest estimate in Rock Island’s sale of May 3rd of 1.2 to 2 million dollars. Also known as the Milikin Colt, the gun was owned by Colonel John Minor Milikin of the 1st Ohio Volunteer cavalry and is a gem among desirable firearms. 

Other dramatic lots in the sale include an M47 Patton main battle tank, a Holland and Holland express double rifle, A Colt Model 1883 Navy Gatling gun, one of two offered, and a rare Colt AR15 prototype. There are 2084 lots in the sale in all price ranges and all areas of gun and military collecting interest.
