Probus Auction are holding a spring sale on April 22nd. The sale includes a spectacular selection of antique arms armor and Militaria. Swedish and Scandinavian arms are, of course, well represented in the sale. Among these are a fine Cavalry officer's sword dated 1711 With the arms of Charles the XII of Sweden, A Swedish horse pistol by Nussbaum Circa 1761, a scarce Swedish Jager Bayonet with Scabbard and a spectacular early 18th C. Bohemian flintlock sporting gun owned by admiral Carl Tersmeden (1715 -1797).
Early edged weapons include fine rapiers of the Pappenheimer type as well as 17th and 18th C. cavalry swords and Military hangers. Spontoons and halberds are among the early lot offered as is an attractive early 17th century knee-length cuirassier armour.
Firearms in the catalogue include a late 17th C pair of Dutch flintlock pistols by Finspang, an early 17th century wheellock carbine from Dresden, a composite wheellock axe-pistol, a superb pair of chiseled French flintlock pistols by Charlot in Lyon And an attractive Italian Wheellock carbine American Firearms in the sale include a Rogers and Spencer revolver and a fine cased New Haven Volcanic pistol. English arms include a cased pair of percussion pistols with captive ramrods by Blisset, two lots of cased percussion Adams revolvers and Tower musket dated 1811.
