Probus Auction’s sale of November 25th includes a wide range of Swedish, European, American and other arms from around the world and from a variety of historical epochs. The auction uses a new platform so bidders will need to create new passwords at www.probusauktioner.se . There are several fine pairs of pistols offered in the sale including the pictured pair by Starbus Stockholm circa 1700 and a second pair with finely chiseled steel barrels and locks by Beckers Maestricht also circa 1700. A pair of very attractive inlaid wheellock pistols are included in the catalog in addition to a later matched pair of formidable flintlock “manstoppers” by Mason, London. A pair of Swedish M 1850 cavalry pistols with detachable stock are also offered.
Among the longarms in the sale are a fine Ottoman gold inlaid and silver clad miquelet rifle, a Colt revolving percussion rifle, a mint Swedish M 1820 carbine, a late 18th C. Danish cavalry carbine and an early 18th C .Austrian wheellock rifle. American percussion revolvers offered include a Rogers and Spencer revolver and a Remington new Model Army.
Early edged weapons include a rare Swedish Cavalry sword M 1717 variant, a near mint French plug-bayonet C 1700, a Swedish/North European sabre C 1640 with perfume bottle pommel.
