| Hessink's auction house are following up on their March sale with a sale devoted to a collection of Dutch arms and armour from the city of Maastricht.
The "Mosa Trajectum" collection focuses on firearms. mostly flintlock, wheelock and percussion guns made from the 17th to the 18th centuries. Spectacular early and exotic guns such as the pair of three barrelled flintlocks circa 1690 are found throughout the catalogue. A similair pair is in the collection of the Hermitage museum in St.Petersburg, Russia. There are also several early and fine blunderbusses in the collection.
The sale also includes a comphrensive collection of Dutch edged weapons, many being regulation military and police pattern swords, bayonets and daggers. Related lots such as a 17th century strongbox are also included in the sale.
