The Ferguson rifle is one of the earliest riles used in service by the British army. This arms saw us e in the revolutionary was in Saratoga in 1777 and later in the siege of Charleston. Examples are rare and a prize edition to any collection of British martial arms. There will be great interest in the example offered by Anthony Cribb Auctioneers on April 19th.  Also offered in the sale is another rare breech loading Lorenzo rifle.  

Other lots of interest in the sale include a section of Indo-Persian weapons among them a double pistol katar.  Knives in the sale include Sheffield bowies, Fairburn Sykes and knuckle duster fighting knives. CZERNYS FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR , MARCH 24TH

Asiam arms are among the top lots being offered by Czernys auction at the end of March. Among these lots are this fine and rare Chinese double dao sword mounted in sliver, coral and jade. Other desireable Asian lots include two important suits of armour and a rare itomaki no tachi.

The sale also includes a good range of pistols pairs including rare Greek, French and English examples with many of these sets being cased. Among the Early European armour offered is a Late 16th C.  north Italian half armour and an importnat gold mounted Khula Khud.

Inluded in the large selection of swords in the sale are several fine Russian sabres, an embelleshed Ottoman pala, an highly decorated thega and a rapier from the collection of Napoleon III. Click on the image for a link to the sale. 
 



LITTLE JOHNS , FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR, FEB 25TH

From the collection of Eric Vaule are these fabulous Ripol style silver mounted pistols. They are being offered along with a wide section or antique guns, arms and amour and related lot over two days by Little Johns. Other early lots include wheelocks, armour, rapier and broadswords. Early arms include fine victor on copies as well as period pieces.

An important presentations sword offered in the sale is the fine Mexican War presentation example inscribed, “Presented by the citizens of Delhi to Lieutenant Frederick Steele of the 2nd United States infantry for the gallant and conduct by which he distinguished himself in the late battles before the city of Mexico”.

Other lost in the sale include a fine Colt martial Navy, a massive Swiss snaphuance musket circa 1660, a good henry lever action with provenance and experimental Colt Burgess Rifle. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



ROCK ISLAND REGIONAL AUCTION,FEB 18TH

 A rare WW1 us sniperscope is one of numerous scarce lots included in Rock Islands Regional auction of Fen 18th. This exmaple of the Warner and Swazey moel 1913 scope come with it's original case.  These were mounted on M1903 riles by US snipers as well as one the Benet Mercie light machine gun.

Sporting, antique and military guns in the sale include a Weatherby Mark V rifle, A Providence Toll Company model 1861 musket, a US Springfield model 1888 Trapdoor with bayonet, a Browning BPS and an Ithaca Mag 10 and a wide range of other guns in all estimate ranges. KRAFT AUCTION SERVICE, ANTIQUE ARMS JAN 14TH

A rare Nepalese Bira hand cranked gun in 577/450 is one of the many good firearms lots in Kraft auctions new year’s antique sale on January 14th.  Other desirable firearms in the sale include a beautiful and rare Winchester model 21 in 28 GA, a Winchester model 66, an automag .44, and a pair of Charles Hellis doubles. Also offered are several great Colt revolvers among the them a diamondback in 22., two 357 pythons a Cobra, and many others with most being mint in box.
 
Military guns in the sale include a civil war spencer carbine, a Japanese type 99 sniper, a Mauser model 98, a Springfield armory Garand and a German GEW98/K98. Click on the image for more information about this sale.



SAN GIORGIO ASTE ANTIQUE ARMS AND MILITARIA, DEC 19TH

San Giorgio Aste’s winter auction, is on December 19th.   The sale includes this fine and rare pair od Brescian wheellock pistols circa 1600.  A very rare and beautiful flintlock mechanism, chiseled as a dragon from Andalusia circa 1650-1750 is also in this sale. Other lots in the sale include cased French dueling pistols, a superb Venetian Storta circa 1600, a Knightly sword, north Italian, C 1250, a hussars sabre from the briefly existing Cisalpine republic, a Sicilian flintlock pistol in the Lombard style and a Silver mounted Greek gun.

Many American pistols will cross the block including a Colt lightening, a Colt Dragoon, as well as Army Navy and root Models. Other lost include a Scottish Dirk, a war hammer and a cased Deprez revolver.

CZERNYS FINE ARMS & ARMOUR FROM ALL PERIODS & INDONESIAN ARMS:DEC 8th & 9th

Czernys are holding two major sales in December. The sale of the 9th includes sumptuous examples of finely made and highly decorative arms from all countries and periods. Among these fabulous lots is the pictured rare white jade hilted shamshir mounted with rubies bearing the inscription “Shah Morad Ali Khan” two suits of amour and a fine Kanmuri otoshi tanto by Yoshindo Yoshihara.

Guns in the sale include an 18th C. bell mounted Naples made blunderbuss, a pair of iron mounted Ripoll pistols, a superb English cased cane gun,  a Saxon troopers puffer dated 1591, a pair of coral mounted Ali Pasha style pistols, a pair of Florentine wender style double barreled pistols and a pair of three barreled pocket pistols by Borton.

Early swords include a German 17th C two handed processional sword, and a rare 16th C German estoc, a fine French 16th C rapier and  a 13th C European knightly sword. Among the Indo-Persian and Ottoman arms are a superb gilded katar, an important tegha  sword with inscriptions, a fine khula khud and sipar, a fine Turkish jade hilted dagger with Damascus blade, a Kilij with wootz blade, a kard dagger with rock crystal hilt and a gold mounted Moroccan Nimcha. On the 8th Czerny’s are selling a large selection of Indonesian and ethnographic arms in a separate sale. 



THOMAS DEL MAR. FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR, DEC 6th

The highest estimated lot In Thomas Del Mar’s next sale is the much published silver mounted pair of Manton duelers pictured. Carrying an estimate of 35,000-45,000 stg these pistols were made in 1791 and most likely make for the 2nd Marquis of Hertford.  Other fine pistols in the sale include a cased pair by Boutet, A fine Rigby cased pepperbox, a Beamont Adams cased revolver owned by one of Queen Vitoria’s sons, most likely prince Alfred.

Among the edged weapons is a Brunswick processional two handed sword dated 1573, a German estoc, a selection of basket and half basket hilt rapiers and swords as well as several fine Japanese Katana.  For collectors of eastern arms a fine shamshir, tulwar hilt and early kattarra are among the lots of interest. ROCK ISLAND AUCTION, PREMIERE AUCTION, DEC 1ST-3RD

Rock island Premier sale is around the corner. The highest estimate in the sale is carried by a Winchester 1873 "One of One Thousand" 1st Model at $375,000-550,000. Other spectacular American firearms in the sale include a cased presentation Colt Presentation Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver and a  Walker's C Company Marked U.S. Contract Colt Walker model 1847.

Among  the sporting arms and a pair of Philippe Grifnee engraved Holland & Holland Shotguns, an engraved cased sequential pair of W.W. Greener side by side Shotguns in 24 Gauge and a massive Ken Owen "Owen-Rewa" 4 bore double rifle.

Military and class III guns include a Walther model MP semi-automatic prototype pistol, a baby luger prototype, a cased full automatic Colt, model 1921/1928 US navy overstamped Thompson submachine gun, and the finest documented US Singer Mod 1911A1. ANTIKVITY PRAHA, ANTIQUE ARMS, DECEMBER 2nd , PRAGUE

A fabulous percussion rifle by Nowak of Prague  is one of the select lots on offer by Antikvity Praha in the sale finishing December 2nd. Other fine  firearms in the sale include a superb Italian flintlock pistol with chiseled steel mounts by Guigno C. 1660 and a late 18th C . flintlock fowler by Hachenberger with a Spanish barrel, one of several  from the collection of Duke Lobkowitz. A nice Blissett over and under pistol will also cross the block.
 
Among the edged weapons in the sale are seberal fine rapiers and an early two handed sword C. 1600. An Austrian model 1768 saber will be sold as will a fine hunting trousse and Russian model 1827 French style saber. A wide selction of historical swords are offered as are several elements of armour

The sale also includes a selection of Japanese sword mounts, several Indo-Persian arms. a Saxon guild miners axe, an early crossbow, a superb chiseled steel horse muzzle, powder horns and several jailers key guns.
